So you have a ton of apples from apple picking… what now? How about some delicious clean apple butter! For this recipe I used cortland apples with the skin on.
Place 12 apples cored sliced, 1/4 cup of water, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon cinnamon in the crockpot on high for 4 hours. Allow apple butter to cool. Place all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth. Pack in air tight container and refrigerate. Enjoy!
Ways to enjoy apple butter:
- Mixed into morning oatmeal
- Mixed into yogurt
- Pour over pecans and warm in the oven
- Spread on protein pancakes
- Spread on toast
- Dip for sweet potato fries
- Pour over vanilla frozen yogurts
I also packaged the apple butter in 1 cup portion bags and place in the freezer. They are recipe ready!
