Apple Pie Fries with Salted Caramel Sauce

Apple Pie Fries

 

This is a healthy twist on an American favorite!

Caramel Sauce

1 c. pitted madjool dates (approx. 12)

2 TBS. almond butter

pinch of sea salt for garnish

Caramel sauce

Place dates in a bowl and cover with water.  Let set at least one hour.  Drain and reserve water.  Place dates in food processor with almond butter and blend.  Add reserved water the dates were soaked in one tablespoon at a time until desired consistency.

 

Apple Pie Fries

4 apples

1 TBS lemon juice

2 TBS cinnamon

1/4c. honey

1c. unsweetened coconut flakes

1/4c. flaxseed meal

1/2c. rolled oats

apple slices

 

 

Place clean baking sheet in oven preheated to 425 degree while cutting apples. Cut apples in 1/4″ slices resembling a french fry.  Add lemon juice, cinnamon, and honey.  Toss to coat apples.

baggie fries

Place oats, flaxseed meal, and coconut in gallon size baggie and shake to combine.  Add apples 2 cups at a time.  Shake baggie to coat apples.

Take heated baking sheet out of oven and spray with pure olive oil baking spray. Place coated apples on heated, sprayed pan.  Bake 3 minutes, flip apples and bake 3 minutes on the other side.  Do not over bake or apples will be too soft.
